Hi everybody Because our development mailing list was filled up with support requests and configuration questions, we decided to add a separate list for RoundCube USERS and keep the dev-list for discussions about ongoing development. If you have questions about the installation, configuration and use of RoundCube Webmail, please subscribe and post to users(a)lists.roundcube.net and leave the dev-list to the devs... Also there's a complete archive with all posts to the dev-list available now: http://lists.roundcube.net After I had detected excessive sending of mails on the demo site, I shut it down because it has been used to spread spam mails. Now it's updated to the latest CVS version and sending mails is deactivated. You can compose and submit messages but they won't be delivered to the recipients but copied to the Sent folder as usually. Regards, Thomas

Remote sendmail

Hello All, I emailed earlier regarding a problem with Non-standard remote sendmail ports. It turns out that my problem was due to improper server_name detection in program/include/rcube_smtp.inc line 76. I don't know if your CVS file is different than mine. The line is: $helo_host = !empty($_SERVER['server_name']) ? $_SERVER['server_name'] : 'localhost'; My sendmail server disallows localhost for the EHLO command which is what it would have defaulted to. I guess my provider thought it was a good security measure, I'm no expert so I can't argue either way. Anyway, I fixed this by adding: // use this name instead of the local servername for EHLO command $rcmail_config['smtp_server_name'] = 'loeppky.ca'; to the main.inc.php file and by replacing line 76 with: $helo_host = !empty($_SERVER['server_name']) ? $_SERVER['server_name'] : $CONFIG['smtp_server_name']; This of course means that rcmail_config['smtp_server_name'] needs to be defaulted to 'localhost' for normal/default conditions. I'm sure there is probably a better name than 'smtp_server_name' but I figured you would know better what to name it than I. I'm not even sure if this is the right way to fix the problem, but I figured I would pass it on to you and let you decide what you want to do to handle this in your production code. Feature and aesthetic requests

Hi, Sorry to spam you all with so many message in such a short period :) Aesthetic request: Can the "flash" messages which appear at the top of the screen have the image/text centered within them? If this is an easy fix, could someone let me know what/where to change? i've not done a lot of HTML/CSS work otherwise i'd have a go at trying to do this myself :) Feature requests: Can the Reply and Forward functionally be extended so that you can reply or forward many (selected) messages as a single email? This would be especially helpful in forwarding mailing list stuff that someone may be interested in reading, just as a single email rather than many single ones. Pine (my preferred email client) does this rather well by pasting each message in date order one after the other. Would it be possible, via a configuration option, to restrict the domain part of an email address which can be used or modified in an identity? What i'd like is for an error to be given to the user if the domain part of the email address they are trying to use for an identity does not match the domain used when they logged in. For example, my virtual users log in with "user(a)example.tld" username but I don't want them to be able to set up (or modify existing) identities which can have literally any email address - whether they have the right to use that address or not. PHP <-> MySQL interaction

Hi, I recently downloaded roundcube (CVS-20051216 version) and had some problems with installation. After a few hours of debugging, I found the problem and just wanted to give people a heads-up regarding this issue as i'm sure it's going to bite a few others :) My set up: Apache 1.3.34 PHP 4.4.1 MySQL 4.1.16 The problem I was experiencing was that every time I attempted to load roundcube I was getting the following errors: DB Error in /path/to/roundcube/program/include/rcube_db.inc (67): DB Error: connect failed Fatal error: Call to undefined function: query() in /path/to/roundcube/program/include/rcube_db.inc on line 151 After several hours of profanity thinking that i'd buggered up the DSN specification, I enabled MySQL's logging to see what exactly was being sent to the server from roundcube and why the connection was being refused. I discovered that this problem has _nothing_ to do with roundcube but is due to the interaction between newer versions of MySQL and PHP. Since MySQL version 4.1.1 there has been a new hashing algorithm used to store database user passwords in MySQL. Unfortunately, the version of DB in roundcube (and the current version in PEAR) do not have the capability to send database user passwords in the new hashed format. The mysqli extension in PHP5 (apparently) doesn't suffer this problem. The MySQL manual details several ways to correct this issue, but the least intrusive seems to be to "degrade" the password for just the roundcube database user to the old style hashing format, which PHP can use to authenticate. Of course, this can be done for any other databases which need to be accessed from PHP when used with MySQL => 4.1.1. The full details of the other options are available in the manual, but the quick fix is: # mysql -u root -p mysql Enter password: <blah> mysql> SET PASSWORD FOR 'roundcube'@'localhost' = OLD_PASSWORD('new_password'); mysql> quit You'll (obviously) need to change the details for the roundcube user to the user for your database and set "new_password" to a, well, new password :) The above should be done after the MySQL table set up as detailed in the INSTALL file. Once the password "degrade" is done, roundcube should connect without problems. I hope this info helps stop someone else spending a couple of hours trying to figure out the problem! Locale setting

Hi, I think I may have found a bug in the setting of the default locale for new users, but i'm not sure if it's a bug or has been done intentually for some reason :) In program/include/main.inc, line 84 there is: $_SESSION['user_lang'] = substr($CONFIG['locale_string'], 0, 2); This prevents the setting of locales which have more than 2 letters in their name (eg, en_GB). I have changed this line to: $_SESSION['user_lang'] = $CONFIG['locale_string']; in my version and it seems to be working without issue. Was there any specific reason that a sub-string of the entire locale was being set? messages table

What does the messages table exactly store? I'm looking at it's contents and it looks like it puts there good part of the mail headers, plus some other information. -- 18:02:25 up 4 days, 9:57, 5 users, load average: 1.59, 1.57, 1.62 --------------------------------------------------------- Lic. Just few ideas

Hi all! I did not find any informations about this on the documentation I read on the site, so there is some things which will be nice to be included in RoundCube: - some mass selection links. For example: All | None | Read | Unread | ..., - some buttons which allow us to change the status of several mails in one click (as Mark as read etc.). In ohter words, these ideas are very common things, but actually I cannot switch to RoundCube from Squirrelmail because of some points like this. And is it possible to reload the folder list when mails are moved from a folder to another one? These questions are probably not very important, or are already on the roadmap. Strange problem

Hi all, I'm experiencing a strange problem with attachments. From the computer where the web/mail server resides I can add as many attachments as I want. >From any other computer I can only add one attachment. On the next one I get an "Access is denied" error in line 1502, char 7. I am using Windows XP, HmailServer 1.42 (latest beta) and roundcube cvs-20051216. Any possible solutions? Feature Request

When viewing the "Sent Items" it shows the Person your've send it to rather than the From Address (which is always yourself) Thanks Craig

Bug in Identity Editor

If you have & or ! (their might be others) in a Signature it will not save. Seems like it is not quoting it correctly when putting it into the database. Thanks Craig
