Hello folks The development team is proud to announce the next beta release with new features, fixes and improvements under the hood: we re-implemented the entire message caching to make mail reading even faster than before, the message list now supports priority headers and the integrated spell checker has gained some options and personal dictionaries. Last but not least one can now save searches in the address book. And of course lots of bug fixes and small improvements are included to increase the fun working with Roundcube. Version 0.6 (stable) released

Dear subscribers The next major release has finally reached stable state and is now available for download. The most important improvement since the 0.5 line is certainly the full-featured address book which now provides a smart interface to manage rich contact information including photos. Hello again The stable release 0.6 is getting really close! We just published the release candidate version 0.6 which fixes some bugs from the last beta release and which is now feature complete. Version 0.6-beta released

Dear Roundcube lovers We're proud to announce the next major release of the Roundcube webmail package: 0.6 is out now as beta. And it's packed with new features, some of them have been awaited for long time. So what's new? * A full-featured address book with rich contact information The address book UI was finally extended to store rich contact data including photos. We worked hard to create a flexible and intuitive UI to enter and manage the contact data. Along with that, import and export of vcards was improved to support all the new fields. If you have LDAP directories configured as address sources, you might review the configuration and map the new contact fields to the according LDAP attributes using the 'fieldmap' property. * Group support for LDAP address books While speaking of LDAP, the LDAP wrapper of Roundcube now also supports address groups thanks to the contribution of Andreas Dick. This requires some additional configuration which is described in the comments of config/main.inc.php.dist * ACL rights/namespace management plugin The new package includes a plugin which extends the folder manager to manage Access Control Lists according to RFC4314 and RFC2086. This allows one to share folders with other users if the IMAP server supports ACL. If there's a LDAP directory configured, the ACL manager even does auto-completion when adding a new user. * memcache support for session storage As an alternative to the SQL-based storage of user sessions, Roundcube 0.6 is now capable of using memcache for fast and redundant storage of session data. Set 'session_storage' and 'memcache_hosts' config options to enable it. * File uploads with progress display Using the features of the APC module, Roundcube can now display the progress of file uploads. This has to be enabled in config using the 'upload_progress' option. Make sure APC is available in PHP and that apc.rfc1867 is set in php.ini * Automated update process with database schema check Upgrading Roundcube installations has become an easy task with the new update shell script. Unpack the new package in some directory and then run bin/installto.sh <TARGETDIR> from there. TARGETDIR is the location of the Roundcube installation which you want to upgrade. The script then copies all files to the target directory and does all modifications necessary to get the database and config files up-to-date. * Exchange logo by config And last but not least, one can now set a customized logo by config without the necessity to create a new skin. We'd like to encourage all hosting providers to set the 'skin_logo' config option with an URL to their logo. This will hopefully clarify to your users, what service they're actually using. We registered an increased amount of support requests from users who don't understand that Roundcube is not a public service but that they have to contact their ISP for help. Of course there are also many improvements under the hood to make Roundcube faster, more stable and more secure. So go forth and install Roundcube 0.6 beta on your servers [1]. We recommend to test it on a separate environment and report bugs to our bug tracking system [2]. An improved and stabilized version will follow soon. A little note for skin developers: the new address book also brings the following new template objects which need to be placed in the HTML templates: contactphoto, contacthead, contactedithead, photouploadform. Security update 0.5.4 is out

Bugfix update 0.5.3 released

Update 0.5.2 is out

Bugfix update 0.5.1 is here

Hello Roundcube lovers The just released update fixes some bugs discovered with the 0.5 stable version and also improves security by preventing some possible CSRF attacks. This includes an optional referer check which is yet disabled by default. If you trust HTTP Referer headers you can enable it in config with $rcmail_config['referer_check'] = true; Furthermore IDNA support has now been improved and some visual glitches in IE and Safari have been resolved. The important new features since 0.4 are: full support for shared folders and namespaces, Internationalized Domain Names (IDNA) as well as SMTP Delivery Status Notifications. The user interface for managing IMAP folders has changed a bit and provides new space for further extensions and plugins. This was already part of the release candidate published some weeks ago and the new stable version fixed the last few bugs, namely some issues with namespaces. We recommend to update all existing Roundcube installations with this release. I'm hosting a web site ( http://test-ipv6.com ) that *may* get a fair bit of attention this week. It will be part of a press release involving several major web sites. It will also be on the web site of a prominent organization coordinating the press release. The server *may* have a sudden increase in business, depending on the level of attention the press release (and media interviews related to it) gets. What does this mean for you? - Mailing lists I host (woodworkers, roundcube, corvette resto, etc) will possibly run a bit slower on getting mail delivered. - Web sites I host may be less snappy. Possibly, downright slow. - Shell access, for those of you who have it, may appear lagged. - If you aren't sure why you're getting this mail at all, it means that you have an email address that is routed through my server. Ping me directly if you're not sure why. I'm looking into ways to help spread the load to other servers, but I'm gated on both time and money, as well as IPv6 availability on any resources that might be contributed. As such, the next handful of days *may* be bumpy. I want to appologize in advance for that. I have had the suggestion from one of the web sites on the press release to look at Google App Engine. I will do that, but I am constrained on when I can do that. I can't mix my employer's time or resources, with working on test-ipv6.com. The soonest I can do any significant change will be Friday. Additionally, the organization putting out the press release, is working on setting up a mirror of my site; once complete, they will hopefully take some of the traffic themselves.
