better results with new IMAPD (courier-imap4)

Hi all, I just wanted to report that a newer IMAP server works WONDERS! I upgraded to courier-imap 4 from courier-imap 2.2 and the overall experience is much... zippier. if you are having problems with timeouts, your imap server may be the problem (IME) Also, if anyone is running against mac (tiger), I can walk them through the config process for courier imap 4 - took me a whilke anyway with the authlib stuff. regardless, I am excited by this performance increase - now I need to pull down the CVS version and put it up. is there anything that needs looking at? I am competent in PHP, not so competent in mail transfer and mail protocols, not competent in AJAX, though XML and javascript alone don\\\\\\\'t bother me, I\\\\\\\'ve just never mixed them. let me know if I can help. j.

Hi Jon, Thanks for your note. But its not really a browser issue. The problem (for me at least) seems to be that the receiver of the mail gets the body and header scrambled. If I send a mail to myself, the display seems fine. Its a weird problem. I've got two other webmail packages on my server (IlohaMail & Horde) and they don't experience the same problem. Thanks! Message Source not configured properly?

Hi All, First off, just wanted to say what a great mail package RoundCube is. Its fully featured, looks great, and simply is an amazing package! Sadly, I have a problem that is keeping me from using it. When sending mail it seems that the message body somehow gets mixed with the header (or vice versa). I've tried sending mails to gmail, and my work account. A few minor errors regarding the new release: In the upgrade instructions, no mention is made of replacing index.php (Roundcube did not work until I replaced it). The README file includes this amusing section: Installation: ------------- For detailed instructions on how to install SquirrelMail on your server, please refer to the INSTALL document in the same directory as this document. Also, if I am reading the code right, RoundCube now automatically checks for IMAPS support and utilizes it with out the code hack discussed in "Re: Using imaps instead of imap"; am I correct in this assumption? Calendar Interface

Hi, I started working on a Calendar preview for RoundCube, as this is a major issue for web mail users - at least in my company - and current solutions don't offer any options to do (Squirrelmail for example). Three things: 1) I would like to hear about other's thoughts on this 2) I would like to hear about someone else's experience with parsing iCal in PHP (I have done work under Perl by using modules) 3) I would like to hear how such integration would be expected... Hi, I installed roundcube 0.1-20050820 on a Gentoo Linux box. It went well, except one missing link to the config files for roundcube. The first time I tried to access roundcube I got: --- Warning: rcmail_startup(config/main.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/localhost/htdocs/roundcube/program/include/main.inc on line 35 Warning: rcmail_startup(): Failed opening 'config/main.inc.php' for inclusion (include_path='/usr/lib/php/php:program:program/lib') in /var/www/localhost/htdocs/roundcube/program/include/main.inc on line 35 Warning: rcmail_startup(config/db.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/localhost/htdocs/roundcube/program/include/main.inc on line 40 Warning: rcmail_startup(): Failed opening 'config/db.inc.php' for inclusion (include_path='/usr/lib/php/php:program:program/lib') in /var/www/localhost/htdocs/roundcube/program/include/main.inc on line 40 --- I had to create a link named config in roundcube/program/include pointing to ../../config/ Now I can see the login form but I can't login (Login failed)... There are no entries in the log files (the files are writable by the apache user) I guess this problem is related to "Re: Nevermind -- Fwd: Install problem". Hi Stefan, I am hardly an expert (the guy with the original nevermind email....), but it sounds like more of a problem with your php include path - my problem was solely due to over configuring my system before I tested it first and was a setting in the config/main.inc.php I can't remember exactly what the setting is (and I couldn't find it just now, browsing through php.ini) but I think there is an option for whether files in subdirectories of the current directory can be included in the php path by default. I could be totally wrong on this - kinda tired, but you may want to check it out. Hope this helps, j.

Hello everybody First of all, these are NOT complaints. Just constructive opinions :-). I coded my first webmail in '97 and had tens of thousands of users until I gave it all away a while ago (after not coding anything for years) so I do know how it's all supposed to work. These are not in any particular order. And I didn't read the code - I'm pretending to be an ordinary loser. * The install was easy and config variables eerily reminded me of the ones in my own webmail.... :-) Then again, I'm a long-time Unix administrator so pretty much anything is easy. * After I log out, the first login after that always fails. Second one succeeds. [DAMN! I spilled the wine] * In the folder view the top buttons don't scroll but in the message view they do. A little consistency won't hurt. * I have all my folders under ~/mail/. I first had imap_root=mail/ but then realized that some users had their folders in ~ (this is on a shared server with about 50 users). So I backed out to imap_root=''. I now have mail/INBOX in my folder list which won't go away (the folder doesn't exist). * I have my sent emails in mail/sent-mail and I'd like to configure Roundcube to do the same. * I had a REAL hard time opening emails. One click selects, but how the fuck do I open them? Web pages don't have a thing called double-click, so Roundcube shouldn't have one either. This was probably the worst of the problems. * The icons... The icons you don't use are 32x32 while the icons you use most are 11x11, or practically unclickable. Yeah, I'm talking about Next and Previons message/page. * What's the deal with having icons both in the top and in the bottom? [hours pass... wife is talking about religions...] [two bottles of wine finished, now all we gots are two bottles of cider] * Teh "Loadign" widow is in the top of the screen, not where you click. Clicking stuff doesn't alywas give immediate feedback. * The icons don't describe what they mean. Textual explanation under them would be great. * The "Print" icon launches a new window and the print window on top of that (Linux + Firefox). Why? * Trash has the stop icon? WTF? I didn't know it meant "Move to trash" until I stopped on top of it. A major no-no. * "Back to message list" icon hints "the previous message" which it isn't. * Reply and forward icons look different (the envelope). Why? The action is the same, only to different recipient - the content should be same. * The main Roudcube logo doesn't take me to the main page - whatever that is. People are used to clicking at the Big Logo Thingy to get back to where they started from. * Address book should open the first contact automatically * What's the deal between "view" and "edit" in address book? They are the same. * Preferences / Folders lists ALL files I have in my $HOME. The default folder list doesn't. * Hitting ESC while waiting for the above folder list to load makes the whole interface not work. Need to click "Back" on the browser to get the interface function again. * Clicking Inbox doesn't give teh user any feedback - it just took me around 5 seconds between clicking and seeing any difference. Install problem

Hey all, I really like the concept behind roundcube - it looks slick! but I am having some problems installing (or rather, authenticating once installed). My server is: roundcube.willowisp.net and I modified the index.php with a <pre> var_dump($_SESSION); var_dump($_REQUEST); </pre> after the session initialization. (pic below) I know the credentials are good, as it is my mailserver and they work in thunderbird. it doesn't appear to be translating the login form info into the session variables. Any ideas? Do I need to have register_globals on? thanks in advance, j.

Problem with IMAP usernames

Problem with imap usernames I don't know if its problem of my host or its general to imap, usernames of email are a code "mXXXXXX" in server and nicks person (@domain.com <http://domain.com>) are apart, nobody knows its server code but their nick, and using roundcube they can only login with server code and not nick like quirrelmail (but users hate squirrelmail). I wonder someone knows how to fix this. Its installed on: http://turismointernacional.com.co/mail If someone needs spanish translation of roundcube i did it.
